#11 Screwed up "Smoky" face

Took a break for the last 2 days, would like to think it was because of the smoke. The fires in the Gila and western Arizona have wreaked havoc on the air quality in Albuquerque. In fact the fires are not the real reason I took a break.  Smoky face was feeling a little confused as to where this project is going.  No responses and all, but today I put smoky face out and went for coffee on the bike and within 15 minutes Smoky was gone, so in fact before the intranet and without documentation the karmic affect of making someone happy is still random and fun.  So i am back to it.

  1. I found Smoky and it made my day! I walk the neighborhood every day and often find little objects, that I take home and make into art, not professionally, just for fun. So, finding art already made, bringing it home, giving Smoky a job (keeping a watchful eye on our "wine shelf" aka the top of our pantry cabinet) and telling everyone I encountered throughout the day about it...I had a delightful day! Thanks so much!!! (Sorry, I didn't post yesterday but, I had to create a account....I much prefer fresh air to cyberspace but, the air quality is tenuous right now and your delivery was so charming it lured me right in.)

  3. Ah that is very sweet, I am happy, happy you found Smoky and Thanks for responding. I hope Smoky lives happily guarding the wine shelf and comes down occasionally for conversation. Really, making someone's day is the object, and if the thrill you get finding a face is the same as I get when I walk away, then the project is completely worth it. I put a face out daily and also walk in the neighborhood. Tell your friends to keep their eyes peeled.

  4. So, on June 15th I found Miss Piggy Face. I thought about not picking her up because I already had Smoky but, it just so happened that a good friend of mine from Las Cruces who collects all kinds of art was just up visiting me the day before. I had shown Smoky off during his visit. So, even though I had already "gotten lucky" with Smoky I thought Miss Piggy Face was meant to have a home in L.C. I've had a lot of "to do's" this week which is why I am just now telling my story. I haven't sent Miss Piggy off yet but, I will within the next few days. When I get a response from my friend I will post again. I did post both Smoky and Miss Piggy on my FB page labeled "Summer of Gorilla Art"

    1. This is so cool, you are starting a collection. I think it is a marvelous idea to send Miss Piggy to Las Cruces, It's great that you are so observant in the neighborhood. Even more fun that the faces are now traveling to different areas of the city and now state. Thanks so much.

    1. The summer seems to have gotten away with me. It's been so HOT, too hot for walking, too hot to have the kiln running, but I'm feeling like things will settle down and will be back to walking and putting out faces again soon. Hope Miss Piggy survives the heat in Cruces.

    2. If you google Paul Taylor's home in Mesilla, NM you will find out where Miss Piggy lives now. Paul bequeathed his home to the state. It is now a monument and will be a museum upon his passing. I'm not sure he will put Miss Piggy up but he really enjoyed receiving her and hearing about gorilla art as a concept and your practice of it. If you would like for me to pass on any more revealing information about you or your art to Paul, let me know.
